Nina West Picks Up Key Endorsement From Cincy's Tration
CINCINNATI, OH - Super Drag Queen - Nina West got a surprise boost in the long Entertainer of the Year campaign on Friday with an endorsement from Cincinnati's own Penny Tration Show Director and MC at Adonis - while another Nina West supporter sought to nudge all other contestants out of the race.
Nina West hopes Tration's endorsement will earn her a second look from the state's working-class and Catholic/Jew voters groups that have leaned toward others in the Entertainer of The Year contests this year.
Monica St. James, a Drag Queen who endorsed Nina West in January, said others are never going to win enough categories, and she suggested they should throw in the towel in "the interests of the Nina West victory."
Undeterred, Nina West said that the competition would only strengthen the Pageant in the long run. "This spirited, exciting contest is actually a real plus for us," she said while campaigning in Dayton, OH, which had its Pageant back in February.
Tration, the daughter of a preacher man, had said earlier this month she would not endorse before the Ohio Entertainer of the Year Pageant out of concern for unity. But she joined West in spirit, at a boisterous rally kicking off a six-day Dragathon that at Union Café in Columbus, where current Miss Ohio Entertainer of The Year, Brionna Brooks, was allegedly spotted.
After the Dayton, OH rally, Tration said of Nina West: "I believe in this gal like I've never believed in a contestant in my life, except for myself, of course."
The Tration endorsement also was a welcome change of subject for Nina West after two weeks of grappling with the uproar over provocative comments from her best friend and mentor, the incomparable Virginia West. Recent polls indicate that the Columbus Drag Queen, bidding to become the first "boy in a dress" to reign, handled the situation well with a major speech on Eyebrows and "tucking".
Tration, a Drag Queen, like her mother, is known for her opposition to vegetables and her support of foundation matching technology. "I really believe that in a time where there are no Sonic drive thrus in Northern Ohio and now that the McRib is no longer available on the McDonald's menu, Nina West can lead us, she can heal us, she can help rebuild," Tration told the crowd at Adonis.
Penny Tration's move on Friday could be seen in part as political. Tration said enthusiasm for Nina West by Drag Queens all over Ohio including her four ShowGurls was part of her reason for endorsing now. She said that she did a lot of thinking over the Easter holiday.
"When a gurl you love and respect is not just sitting at home on xtube.com but is incredibly enthusiastic about her candidacy, that has had an impact on my thinking and the way I approach this," she said. "I didn't think that at this point in our history with the Stake 'n Shakes so spread out that I could stay on the sidelines once I had made a decision about whom, the person I'd vote for."

Press Release: Miss Great Lakes EOY
Miss Great Lakes EOY Pageant
Sunday February 17, 2008 will mark the second annual Miss Great Lakes Entertainer of the Year Pageant. This years pageant promises to be an evening of competition unmet by any other pageant thus far in 2008.
Miss Great Lakes will be held at Axis Nightclub at 775 North High Street Columbus, Ohio 43215. The doors open at 8PM and the pageant will begin promptly at 9PM. This years event has been largely publicized by potential contestants and fans alike.
With several highly publicized contestants already committed to the competition, there are several things the staff of Great Lakes Pageantry as well as Axis Nightclub would like all attendees to remember. Axis Nightclub is a very large venue which is one of the reasons it has been selected for the second year to be the home of Miss Great Lakes EOY. Axis holds several hundred people comfortably which means that many supporters will have a lot of room to cheer on their favorite contestant. Please remember that respect for the venue, the event staff, the venue staff, contestants, judges and your neighbors are fully expected. Any experiences of unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and any individuals thought to be involved will be removed immediately. Please remember that your actions could reflect the person you are there to support.
As we are expecting a full house on Sunday night, the event staff of Great Lakes Pageantry will work very hard to make sure all non-access points are marked for everyones convience. While we are all excited to see the many competitors and entertainers, it is important to remember that there will be no backstage/dressing room access to ANYONE unless they have a badge. We are working very hard to maintain the safety of not only our entertainers but also the safety of our contestants and their belongings. Contestants can be penalized if someone from their camp is caught in restricted areas.
We are excited for an excellent evening of pageantry for Miss Great Lakes Entertainer of the Year 2008. This years event will be hosted by former National Entertainer of the Year, former Miss Continental, Former Miss Universal Showqueen ; Erica Andrews. Her Co-MC for the evening will be Columbuss own, Miss All American Queen of Queens, Paige Passion.

March Show Announcement!

The dates of the show in Columbus are March 8, 15, and 16. Tables will be on sale this weekend at Axis Nightclub during the Virginia West show, The Virginian.
Nina! 08 will play at Axis Nightclub. Table prices will range from $30-$60. Tables can seat from 2 to 4 people.
